I’d like to start this blog with a very exciting announcement: Overland Storage’s Partner Program, FastTrack, has just been awarded a 5-Star rating by CRN.

This elite ranking within the Program Guide is recognized as major accolade due to the visibility it has in the channel. Choice buzz words like “definitive listing” of vendors that supply the IT channel keep coming up in conversation, and every time I hear it, it makes me proud. Not only because this is the first time that our FastTrack Partner Program has received this honor, but also because 2012 was an amazing year of channel development for us with new product releases, revenue successes and record partner growth. So what happens next?

Four simple but very promising words. We had just wrapped up the presentation at the Chicago roadshow event and as I was going through my meet and greets, this is what one of the partner attendees asked me. It made me get a bit retrospective on the whole concept of the roadshow.

Back in May, I did a post about the next leap in tape storage technology … i.e. LTO6.  I talked about how Overland had led the market with the introduction of LTO5 and was now anxiously awaiting LTO6.  LTO6 was still a ways off at that time and it was mostly a dream.  Not anymore!  Once again, Overland is the first storage vendor to announce wide-spread support of LTO6 across our entire NEO Series tape library line.  And customers can start ordering today!

Just to recap … why are we so excited about LTO6?  We’re now talking about the ability to put as much as 6.25TB on a tape.  Remember, these tapes are just 4” square.  Now, put 9 of those tapes in a 1u NEO 100s autoloader and you have the storage equivalent of TWO of the Sears Towers in Chicago being filled from top to bottom with nothing but double-sided sheets of paper filled with information.  Take that analogy 1 step further Read more…

August 6, 2012 | Eric Kelly, President and CEO

As one of the driving forces of technological innovation in the United States, Silicon Valley companies continue to create new products and opportunities that advance all aspects of our lives. The ability to create intellectual property is critical for companies as they develop new products and protect existing assets. Last year alone, Californians made up more than a quarter of the 108,626 patents issued to U.S. inventors.

Recently the Commerce Department announced a plan to put a satellite Patent Office in Silicon Valley. As the President and CEO of a global provider of leading data management and data protection solutions, I support this move, as it brings increased resources to streamline the patent process and creating a cycle of job growth that is good for the overall US economy.
