Dual Controllers

The S1000 is equipped with everything you need to protect your most valuable business data and provide non-stop services for critical applications. With the option to integrate dual Active-Active controllers with automatic failover, administrators can rest assured that their valuable data assets are always available.

High availability is further delivered with fully redundant, hot-swappable components such as power supplies, fan modules, battery backup modules, and SAS expansion ports.

Flexible Connectivity

The S1000 supports a variety of connectivity options, making it ideal for organizations who desire the ability to leverage their existing infrastructure and the flexibility to adapt as requirements change or new technologies become available. Choose the best connectivity for your environment with single or dual controller options supporting 1GbE or 10GbE iSCSI, 4Gb Fibre Channel, or 6Gb/sec SAS interfaces.

Windows Integration

The S1000 is fully certified Microsoft Server operating systems including Hyper-V for seamless integration into any Windows environment. Also, support for Microsoft’s Multi-Path I/O (MPIO) implementation helps you to maximize performance and connection availability while integration with Virtual Shadow Copy Services (VSS) enables complete, application consistent backups for all VSS-aware applications.

Online Capacity Expansion

The Online Capacity Expansion feature makes it easy to add capacity as needed without disrupting application availability. Drives and expansion units can be added online, RAID sets can be expanded without service interruption, and target volumes can be grown while maintaining access to data.

SnapShots

Snapshots are a great way to accelerate backups, reduce the physical capacity consumed to protect data and increase backup efficiencies. More importantly, Snapshots provide the fastest and most granular way to recover data. By taking instant, disk-based point-in-time images of storage volumes located on any of your SnapSAN S1000s, you can roll back to the point in time before malware or virus intrusion. By integrating directly with Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) feature you’ll be able to create complete, application consistent snapshots to fully protect all of your VSS-aware applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SQL.

Writable snapshot supports allows for a flexible test environment without putting your critical data at risk and without the need to do a complete volume copy of the data to test applications under development or for piloting purposes.

Replication

The remote replication software enables administrators to replicate data over their LAN or WAN from S1000 to S1000. Data protection and backup solutions play an important role in todays storage architectures. Ideally suited for site-to-site data protection, the remote replication software helps protect from disasters and prevents data loss.

Drive Spin-Down

All S1000 systems are equipped with a variety of “Green” features and advanced cooling mechanisms which maximize energy efficiency and power savings. The auto disk spin-down feature ensures that the system is consuming only the amount of power required to serve data.

Environmental temperatures are monitored and fans are automatically adjusted as needed to keep the system cool and running optimally. In addition, the power supplies are optimized to further maximize power efficiencies.
